 QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

QHow do I know if therapy is right for me?

ATherapy might be right for you if you are curious about the inner workings of your mind, want to feel better, or are looking for new perspectives. If you’ve noticed patterns in your life that are no longer beneficial, you may benefit from therapy. Likewise, therapy might be right for you if you’ve been thinking or feeling in a way that does not seem aligned with who you believe yourself to be.

QHow can I get started?

AWhen you’re ready to start, simply contact me. You’ll receive an email from me inviting you to schedule an introductory phone call. We’ll discuss your specific needs, answer any questions you might have, and schedule an initial consultation session on this call.

QDo you offer virtual or in-person sessions?

AYes, I currently offer both virtual and in-person sessions. We can discuss the best option for your circumstances during our consultation session.

QHow does payment work?

AAt the end of each month, you will receive a statement detailing each session and any no-shows or cancellations. You can make payments via Venmo, Zelle, or check.

QWhat is a Good Faith Estimate?

AAs of January 1, 2022, new legislation is in effect which requires healthcare providers to provide an estimate of treatment costs for patients who do not have insurance, or who are not using insurance benefits. This is called a Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises/consumers, email representatives at FederalPPDRQuestions@cms.hhs.gov, or call 800-985-3059.

QDo you take insurance?

ANo. Unfortunately, taking insurance makes it difficult to maintain your confidentiality. Insurance companies limit the scope of your treatment and hinder therapists in their ability to provide the best care for each individual.

However, I can provide you with a monthly statement that you can submit to your insurance for out-of-network reimbursement. Insurance plans vary and it is your responsibility to understand your out-of-network benefits and submit such claims.

QWhat is your cancellation policy?

AIf you cannot make a scheduled session, I ask for at least a week’s notice, if not more. As a gesture of goodwill, we will attempt to reschedule missed sessions. However, refunds are not available for missed sessions. There may be certain circumstances in which there are exceptions to this policy, and I encourage you to discuss your circumstances with me during a session.

QHow long before I start to see the positive effects of therapy?

AMany people initially feel relieved at the outset of therapy. It's natural for this feeling of relief to wax and wane over time. These experiences are normal. You might find that part of the journey is learning to ride these waves and discuss them openly in therapy.

QDo you offer virtual or in-person sessions?

AI conduct online sessions using a HIPAA-compliant platform called doxy.me. This platform does not require you to download any software or create an account. I simply provide one link for all of our sessions.

QDo you see people outside of Denver?

AYes. patients must be permanent residents of Colorado but do not need to live in Denver. Individuals living in smaller communities may benefit from working virtually with a therapist to provide a greater sense of confidentiality.

QAre you currently accepting new patients?

AUnfortunately, I am not accepting new patients at this time. I encourage you to contact me for more information and a list of other therapists currently accepting new patients.

QHow often should I come to therapy?

AYou should prepare to commit to therapy at least once per week. Some people may benefit from more than one session per week. We will discuss your individual needs during our consultation session. Your consistent commitment to therapy will allow you to make lasting changes and gain momentum.

QHow are sessions scheduled?

AIf we choose to move forward during our consultation, we will choose a consistent day and time for future sessions. Consistency ensures that therapy becomes a part of your routine. There may be certain circumstances in which there are exceptions to this policy, and I encourage you to discuss your circumstances with me during our introductory phone call.

QI’m not sure I’m doing poorly enough to start therapy.

AYou do not need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Engaging in therapy may help enhance tolerance for adversity, uncertainty, and difficult emotions. You may also experience greater satisfaction in day-to-day life, increased confidence, and compassion for yourself and others.

QWhere is your office located?

AThe office is located one block south of the Denver Art Museum at 66 W 11th Ave, Denver, CO 80204. The office provides a warm, comfortable environment. There is ample street parking and a welcoming reception area.
